Grab Bag Chat Farts
and other Yak talk ......Here are some exerpts from this past week's email conversations between myself and Roger Johnson in our sometimes fuetal attempt to remember what was what way back when._Bill Lieber
Email from Rog to Bill.....
Biil, Remember Bits and Pieces, 6300 San Pedro? Just saw a ticket (unused)
of that one as I was looking through a bunch of old concert ticket
stubs. Still have my Led Zeppelin stubs from May 22, 1973. Cool, huh? More
on the way.

Bill's response....
Funny you should be asking that. I'm sending Mike all the stuff that we (both brains) remembered from yesterday....or was it the day before yesterday ......Uh O.....another brain fart. Just remember..... "another bottle in front of me is better than a frontal labotomy." Joe Estes (Smith Bros.) and I used to always say that. He's gone now.....God bless him. Send me more info. I know we can contribute lots and lots of stuff to Mike's site. Even if it is sketchy. I just might remember something about it and we can always tap Roland, Bruce, Joey & Scott....
or even Mewa.....(Schschschsch!)......Buckhata! (I schawy!)....or even Beaver ....Booce!
Email from Bill to Rog.... Rog,
I'm attempting to contribute to the Club Trivia section of Mike's web site. I just need another brain since mine is sometimes a bit scetchy when trying to remember the old days.
What was the name of the club on West Ave. that Pablos Grove and Man Mountain & the Green Slime Boys had the Bar B Que Dinner and Dance around '75. Was it the Bo Jangles?
Response from Rog.....
Bill, Hey bud!! Yeah it was Club Bo Jangles or just plain Bo Jangles. Wasn't it also called Way Out West one time or am I confusing it with another club?
......Remember the first time we saw Roger Santos? It was when he was in Wetmore's first band, Jasmine. That is when Wetmore was Wetmore and not Joseph. You know, I think Pat changed his name because he and his dad did not get along at all and wanted to spite his old man. I think I would have changed my name to Pat Myfatherisafuckingasshole. That would have REALLY pissed him off.
Bills response....
Yep, it was called Way out West after Bo Jangles.
.....I thought that Pat changed his last name to Joseph due to a legal issue between him and the band the Krayolas when they split up. I don't know for sure but that what I heard way back when.
.......Boy I wish Roland had a PC with Email. I hate to call him 'cause I'll be on the phone for many hours before I can find out the information I really need.
Rogers response.... You mean Roland aint in the computer age? Jeeeeeezzzzz, how lame. He is the guy with the smarts on what we are trying to do which is resurrect the past!
........Scott (Carter) should be able to contibute a bunch of info also. How about all the time he spent at that place on San Pedro listening to Los Keys? That is a story in itself.
Bill's response....
Yep. He was in his own little world of partying. .....And, boy what stories are yet to come!
Oh by the by, what is Phil's (Arroyo's) most current band named?
-Rog-
Bill's response...
Secret Circus!
Another Question by Bill..... Was it Fitzwilly's or Skip Willy's that the Claude Morgan album was recorded entitled "Lucky to be Live"? I think you were there with me and Bruce Humphries and my good friends Mark Hall and Mary Ann Rybaki. I remember we danced on the table to Claude's Mexican rendition of La Caccajuate (sp?). And wasn't Roger Santos the bass player in the band at that time? I'll have to dig out the album. I think I lost my red Tshirt. Remember it said "Lucky to be Live" and it was our ticket to the album release party?
Rog's response.....
"Lucky to be Live" was recorded at Fitzwilly's out by UTSA on 1604 in 1978 and I missed it because I had to work. Bruce snagged me a copy of the record which I still have. Larry Patton played rhythm and sang, you know what Claude did, and Roger Santos sang and played bass and finally, Jimmy Rose drummed and sang.
A final question from Bill....
Pictures - do you have any of the big sombrero you wore the night we went to Muldoons Saloon to see Man Mountain and the Green Slim Boys? I'll dig around but I know we took a few pictures which would be great for the Mike's photo gallery.
Roger's response....
No, I don't have any pictures of me wearing the sombrero. It would be nice to have a shot or two from that night at Muldoon's (Saloon). Who would have thunk that twenty five years later that stuff would have meant much to us? You do have a picture or two I believe of that night before we went to the club? There should be one of Alex listening to your headphones and the other end of the cord was in my pants and I had on a pair of your underwear on the outside of my pants or something like that....... I remember it was a two joint ride from Karnes City to SA and I was pretty laid back. Thank God for the days of ten dollar bags!!
Yet antother Question to anyone......
And...weren't you at the Longneck (on Blanco Rd. in Allena Village) when Augie Myers recorded his album entitled "Live at the Longneck"? I danced on the table that night (too much tequilia) and after all these years I still have that album too.
I guess I'm Lucky to be alive......
